Do Autistic Kids Love Their Mom?

Yes, autistic kids absolutely love their moms, just like any other children. Autism does not affect a child’s capacity to feel love or bond with their family. What may look different, however, is how that love is expressed. Some autistic children might not show affection in traditional ways, such as hugs or eye contact, but they may express love through unique actions like wanting to spend time together, sharing special interests, or seeking comfort from their mom when they feel overwhelmed.

It’s important for parents to remember that autism influences communication and social interaction, not emotions. An autistic child may need support to express feelings in ways that are more easily understood, but the bond between mother and child remains just as deep and meaningful.

ABA therapy can help children develop skills to better express their emotions and strengthen family connections. With the right support, love becomes easier to recognize and share.

At Able Stars ABA, we empower families with tools and ABA strategies in Maryland that nurture both growth and relationships.
